Is Your Kapha Balanced in Spring?
Have you felt sleepy, tired and heavy recently?
According to Ayurveda, Kapha’s elements are water and earth. Spring has brought these Kapha qualities into our life, so at the moment it is easy to have aggravated Kapha and feel unbalanced, both physically and mentally. If you have Kapha body type, you might already have felt it in this weather.
Let’s check the signs of Kapha imbalance.
When your Kapha Dosha is unbalanced, you might feel:
- Heaviness, lethargy and dull
- Weight gain
- Brain fog
- Excessive sleep and difficulty rising in the morning
- Laziness
- Swelling
- Stiffness in the joints
- Poor appetite and digestion
- Runny nose
- Slow, sticky, sluggish bowel movements
- Overly sentimental.
To balance Kapha Dosha, avoid:
- Eating sweet, sour and salty tastes
- Cooling food, both by type and temperature
- Heavy and oily food
- Over eating
- Over sleeping.
Ayurveda recommends:
- Eating bitter, pungent and astringent taste food
- Having a lot of spices
- Light, dry and warm food
- Exercise
- A hot shower in the morning
- Kapha specific Ayurvedic massage.
