About Shino and the Yogi-Veda Day Spa
Obsessed with nature, health and food, Shino began practicing yoga in 2003 and went on to graduate with her International Yoga Teacher License (RYS 200) in 2008 after a long retreat in Goa and Rishkesh, India.
While studying in Goa, Shino encountered a masterful chef at the retreat who prepared beautiful, healing Ayurvedic food everyday for the students. She also created incredible natural medicines from the kitchen when the students got sick – they always felt better after taking these herbs.
Of this wonderful time Shino says:
During the course, we had to study Ayurveda. It was one of the core modules for RYT 200 and usually this class was after breakfast. We had to tell the teacher what we had for breakfast and why. Our food was prepared for all body types. This is the basis of Ayurveda. When we chose our meal, we needed to think about the weather, our own body type and our condition that day. I enjoyed focusing on my condition and choosing the best food for each day. My body was balanced in a month with food, yoga and Ayurvedic massage. I was surprised that it affected my period cycle so now it consistently comes when it’s a full moon. I felt my body cycle is connecting with nature and I feel that everybody should be in sync with nature for a healthy life. That’s why I am an Ayurvedic therapist. I like to share my experience and also help people who need to balance their health in a natural way through food and massage.
Shino came to Australia in 2010 to study English and teach yoga starting with a class in North Adelaide and corporate contracts teaching office workers. She resumed studies of Ayurvedic massage in Tokyo in Japan in 2012 where she worked at Tokyo’s largest, high-end Ayurvedic clinc treating thousands of clients with massage and diet recommendations.
In 2014, Shino returned to India to study Ayurveda and herbology in Kerala where she learned theories of how to incorporate local herbs into massage oils in order to match the climate that suit the body’s needs and constitution.
Yogi-Veda opened in November 2014 in Stirling where Shino has now settled down to practise massage and Ayurveda in the pristine Adelaide Hills – the perfect environment for relaxing and working with clients to improve their health and well-being.
